The end of the hand-held remote control could be in sight. Microsoft today unveiled the first system that lets you simply tell your television what you want to watch.
Using the computer giant’s Xbox 360 games console and a combined microphone and sensor called Kinect, the service provides voice-activated searches for music, television shows and films.
“You say it, Xbox finds it,” said Marc Whitten, corporate vice-president of Xbox Live. He told the E3 computer games conference inLos Angeles: “This is our vision for the future of television -effortless and approachable. You no longer have to navigate through the menus to find content.”
