The new Archive Service Accreditation Standard and supporting guidance are now available. This is a key milestone in launching a scheme which will support, develop and celebrate the UK archives sector.
Archive Service Accreditation supports the improvement and development of archive services through good practice and agreed standards and offers a badge of external recognition for good performance in all areas of service delivery to those archive services who are accredited.
It is aimed at organisations which hold archive collections, whatever their constitution, and covers both private and public sector archives.
Archive Service Accreditation was developed by the UK partnership of Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland), Arts Council England, Archives and Records Council Wales, National Records of Scotland, Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, Scottish Council on Archives, The National Archives and the Welsh Government through its CyMAL: Museum, Libraries and Archives Wales division, and the archives sector across the UK who contributed to the development of Archives Service Accreditation through the co-creation process and pilot phase.
