Picture archive project spawns nostalgia magazines

A project to centralise more than 100m newspaper pictures in a single archive has spawned a series of eight regional nostalgia magazines.

Earlier this year, Trinity Mirror announced it was creating a single archive of all its regional and national press photographs in Watford,

Hundreds of lost pictorial treasures have since been unearthed and the project has now resulted in a commercial spin-off, with the publication of eight regional ‘Frame by Frame’ magazines capturing the history of their respective towns and cities.

The collection covers Birmingham, Coventry, Huddersfield, Manchester, Newcastle, North Wales, South Wales and Teesside and offers a snapshot of the modern history of Britain’s towns and regions through the eye of a lens.
