Dylan Thomas was ‘locked in the BBC library’ to make sure he finished Under Milk Wood

Dylan Thomas was “imprisoned” overnight in a BBC library with just a bucket for a toilet to make sure he completed his famous radio play Under Milk Wood, listeners to Desert Island Discs have been told.

The Swansea born writer was imprisoned for several nights by Douglas Cleverdon, the producer behind the iconic 1950s drama starring the legendary Richard Burton, according to Cleverdon’s daughter, Dame Julia Cleverdon.
